An anti-abuse ad campaign that is only visible to children.
Spanish organization, Aid to Children and Adolescents at Risk (ANAR) Foundation has created an anti-abuse campaign that is only visible to children. Although, perhaps after they have released information about the ad, it will be visible to everyone.
Anyway, I digress. This brilliant ad utilises lenticular printing to show a different photo depending on the angle the ad is viewed from. From an adult's perspective, the ad shows a picture of a boy with the words, "Sometimes child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it".
However, from a child's point of view, the boy in the ad becomes bruised and the words, "If somebody hurts you, phone us and we'll help you" will appear together with the foundation's help line.
This ad was created in the purpose to help abused children without ever informing their abusers.
Video below shows a demonstration of how the ad would work in real life.
I believe this is a truly smart ad campaign that would serve its purpose in how it was meant to. The ad started from the base question of "How can such foundations get their message across to the victims even when they are accompanied by their aggressor?"
Just by answering this basic question, they have arrived at a simple yet genius solution which successfully uses technology to its advantage. This is where lenticular printing has proven itself to be more than just a novelty.
While it may not be foolproof, it certainly is a stepping stone towards effective advertising, by delivering messages to the directed target groups. Imagine the many possibilities that could arise after such a campaign. It does not always have to be directed towards dire causes, humour could work just as well in this situation. Somehow, it does excite me to think that there might be a possibility of a world in the future where we have many hidden messages around us.
Seeing this making me realize that there's no boundaries in photography, especially advertising photography. It could utilize any kind of medium to deliver the message to the viewer's. I see there will be more breakthrough in advertising photography.
