Vancouver-based photographer Dina Goldstein shoots for magazines and ad agencies around the world. Her series, In the Doll House, examines the less than perfect life of B and K. B is a super doll, the most successful doll in the world. Her partner K is grappling with his sexuality and finds himself in a loveless marriage. He struggles with his position in the household and faces his lack of authenticity.

Personally, i love the concept. To me it's a really great work by the photographer considering how much effort that she and her team put for the pre-production. She brought up a really sentimental issue to the story line. In my opinion, if the story line was the same but with  different  subject matter (e.g Barbie and Ken),the outcome will be different.

Today, I feel the world is without fantasy; this is why we photographers create images. We all need more dreams in our lives and to take things less seriously.  Because We re not the only ones, and this is how the world works today. We have to believe that we can create something different and follow the ambitions.

Imagery is craft. The process of creating your imagination to the 'canvas'. The process of  transferring our imagination to reality involves researching, making moodboards, directing scenes, controlling the lighting, enhancing colour, manipulation and staging the details.
The boundaries of photography are endless.  We are not just a photographer but we are an image-maker.

  1. Brilliant!!1 Simply brilliant. I didn't grow up with Barbie when I was little (at some point I did own 2 of them but mum gave them away since she didn't think dolls would benefit my growing up)but this shoot totally bring me what I have missed out during childhood, with a pinch of salt , to reach a whole new level of general's understanding of what barbie should be like. Set up is amazing. The use of symbolic bright vivid pink also spices up the whole shoot.
